Hi I am now ready to fit the front wings on the1969 4/4 I am restoring. Is it normal to fix the wing beading to the “sill” section to hold it in place before fitting the wing and if so what is used . Tacks, panel pins or glue ?

Did this many years ago on an MGTF inserted all the bolts loosely then inserted the beading and progressively tightened the bolts until it pinched the beading tight no glue or pins involved if I remember correctly.

In 1969 they were tacked in IIRC. No glue.

Thanks for your help. I had decided that was the way to go . I have seen that on more modern cars use a right angle steel section that clamps the wing to the sill. Was this used on a 69 car or did they use local patch washers to clamp the wing ?

There were three or four machine screws that came through from under the door tread plate and also some flathead wood screws with a small washer in the spaces between, depending on the person fitting it on the day!
Two 1/4 bolts through to the rear wing with a spacer as required and penny washers.
Cheers
