The auction has just finished with the "Black Strat" going for $3.3m, which must be a record. If my calculation is right, he has raised about $17.7m for charity by selling items, some of which he must have had a very strong attachment to. Yes, he may be attached to them, but I'm sure that if he asked the new owners nicely they may let him pop round to play them from time to time?

Unfortunately that won't be me inviting him round to play. The guitar I was interested in went for $145,000

I think it is all going to a climate change charity. Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons IMHO climate change is a natural occurrence and all the money in the world won't change it. What a waste of a glorious opportunity to donate to something that would do some good I totally agree with you Keith. King Canute and the tide all over again... I will join this group also. The best thing I have heard recently is that Britain is going to be pollution free by 2050, so no more cows, sheep or wild animals for that matter as they all fart and produce methane---a green house gas! Politicians a, what a waste of space.

I listened to David Gilmour on radio 4 this morning. He was able to reassure listeners that he still has some guitars left, and can always pop out and buy some new ones.

With that kind of profit margin I expect he was just about to go and buy half a dozen

What a waste of a glorious opportunity to donate to something that would do some good The scientific evidence would tend to suggest that there is a significant human influence on climate change. Even if not and climate change is all down to natural cycles, it’s still going to be a massive existential problem that will kind of dwarf Brexit or Boris Johnson.
