I felt sorry for the Doctor's in the stationary Audi that the idiot driving the Morgan ploughed into, they both sustained soft tissue damage to the neck. That's a first for me when it comes to Audi drivers I can tell you Felt very sorry for the poor abused Morgan though, I expect it will appear shortly on an auction site requiring the application of 'T' Cut or some other totally ludicrous claim

We all make mistakes so I have sympathy, but it appears even if their hadn’t been any queuing traffic he may have gone “head long” into the r/about/junction. I wonder if the satnav was on the transmission tunnel. To low down in my book for safety. On another note considering other threads on this site. The car was pulling up dead straight.

Good point - it was braking dead straight!. Such a horrible end for the car which I expect is actually more damaged than it appears and likely a write off.

The fact that the Audi moved forward may have saved the Morgan driver from injury. Had the Audi been standing with brakes hard on, the impact would have been harder, and an instant stop,
But Trads do seem to withstand front end impacts well, and the cockpit seems to remain pretty much intact.

Sadly all too common on motorways and fast roads where drivers fail to give the right gap or see stationary traffic ahead.
Looking at the skid marks also a good example of why stopping distances should be increased on non ABS equipped cars, as he wasn't even close to stopping. The driver can only blame himself and it was all captured on dashcam too.
Note the road sign giving the turn off for Shrewsbury crematorium as could easily have been the case!

I was also impressed by how well the structure of the car withstood the impact, but current car design favours a crumple zone at the front so I'm wondering whether this was a good thing or not.

I think it crumpled pretty effectively the driver had to be helped out over the door by the Audi driver as they had jammed shut, I would be very surprised if the car isn't a write off.

The old design does seem to absorbs the energy and yes that was my understanding too regarding modern cars and crumple zones. Can’t seem to see one on the new tub though, just two stiff structural members aligned with the occupants. ![[Linked Image]](https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/6nlop06prj3caec/new%20body.jpg)

Just watched the video. Impressed that he reportedly suffered only minor injuries. He was very fortunate
It's slightly worrying that the whole bonnet detached intact, flying off at a head height and the bonnet stay transformed into a fast moving harpoon. Both could have been potentially lethal.
To my mind, good reasons to fit wolf performance bonnet stays and have a leather strap securing the bonnet.
