any suggestions on how and where water can get into a morgan, mainly dripping onto gearbox housing and passenger foot well, coming back from mog19 that was raining very heavy and yes getting water between hood and top of windscreen (normal) but it was dripping down from somewhere under the dash, onto my knees and into the passenger foot well, and near to the handbrake ?? I have heard people say carry a trowel when driving in the rain but there is electric`s behind the dash and a bit worried about the amount of water getting in behind the dash, is the 2007 Roadster, any advice would be welcome, Thanks

There have been a number of threads on this topic. No definitive answer, but the suspicion points to the screws used to hold the rear bonnet hinge to the woodwork. It is supposed that a flaw in the timber is opened by the screws and under the pressure of rain they slowly leak. A couple of wood repair liquids have been mentioned, I'm sorry I can't recall which one was considered the best.
Million dod a lot of research into the causes, his Roadster suffered from the problem, but is now cured. Drop him a pm.

Might it be Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure. I have some but yet to use. With a name like that it's got to work

I have used this, to fix leaks between the scuttle top and the bulkhead. It works very well, but you have to do repeated applications to gradually fill all the gaps.

Replace the seals under the wiper arm mounts & add clear sealant. They deteriorate fairly quickly.

I had similar issues of water on the gearbox tunnel. Took the dash off and saw tell-tail marks on the ash frame leading to the washer nozzles. They were loose.

Just to clarify: Loose as in nozzles loose to scuttle not loose or leaky tubing.

Have a look at the sealing credibility of the rubber between the screen and the scuttle. On my car there is a slight mismatch in the curvature and the outer rubber is not tight down onto the scuttle in the mid section. It is ok towards the outer areas. When I looked under this rubber I spotted the electric screen demister wire poking through as well. This meant the inner rubber was not sealing to the scuttle either. I teased the wires back under this inner seal and used a mastic to put a bead under the outer rubber to butt up to the inner rubber. This is a consequence of the hand made nature of the panels giving rise to small variations which mismatches other parts. In this case a relatively simple fix just by using mastic. A bit fiddly as keeping a continuous bead is needed but not too bad. Captain Tolley’s is worth a go elsewhere. Check the seals under your wipers and washer jets too. Wipers easy to do but washers need the dash off for access.

Many thanks for the replies, looks like its happen often, dont normally take it out in the rain, we have a rule, " if its raining before we go out we dont take it, but once out nothing can be done if it rains "
will investigate once I make some time, again thanks
