When rocking the car side to side using the roll hoops I get a load knocking sound, after a bit of head scratching turns out to be play in the steering rack rack bushing.
Can feel the play when pulling up and down on the tie rods and is surprisingly load.
Pulled the rubber gator back and there’s no oil in there apart from some grease on the inner ball joint so guess it’s supposed to be dry.
Just wondered if anyone had experienced the same?
Not had it’s first3 month service yet😳

Point it out when it goes for its service. My car has had a similar clunk for several years, it gets no worse or better and seems to have no effect on anything. My clunk is on the LH side. Let us know if they change the rack on the service.

Surprisingly loud not load🤪
I will mention it when I book the car in and see what they say.
My car is the left side as well, reassuring that it doesn’t cause any issues so thanks for that.
Obviously can’t hear it when driving and especially now I’ve drilled out the front baffle disc, great improvement, engine pulls better low down, which I try to avoid, and get some nice pops a bangs on overrun.
Have to say love driving this car, even when you get stuck behind a slow vehicle it’s still fun ambling along, taking in the view, watching the road go by and the wheels bobbing up and down, it’s just great👍

I had exactly the same issue, it was replaced under warranty at first service. The new rack had the same amount of lift and knock on LH side.
It has been on the car 3 years now, hasn't got any worse and does not seem to effect the steering.

Sounds like a case of “they all do that sir”
Maybe benefit from some lubrication?
