I am relatively new to the forum, bought a 2010 used Plus 4 in March. Lots of local runs, but last week did the Welsh Tour (1,000 miles in 6 days). Fabulous weather, great roads, and little traffic. A real opportunity to see what the car and I could both achieve. The car had done 9,000 miles before I purchased it, and by the end of the week, with lots of hill climbs and descents it had really loosened up. Very much more willing and eager to go, a different car. I suspect it had never been driven vigorously before, and one of the reasons for this suspicion was the accelerator pedal. The previous owner had specified a factory fitted the organ pedal. However it proved to be down right dangerous, on two separate occasions it jammed fully open under acceleration. Not a pleasant experience. After the second time I removed the organ pedal plate and used the roller pedal on its own. (Much better feel and responsive) On closer examination of the organ pedal plate, it appeared to be a rough casting and the rear loop was not evenly shaped, it tapered towards the top, i.e. full travel of accelerator. So when putting the foot down, the organ pedal effectively trapped the plastic roller on the accelerator arm and held it in the fully open position. Potentially lethal, if not downright scary! Interested to read on TM that this has also happened to others, and that made me remove the bloody thing before incident number 3. You may want to check yours if you have one fitted. Once I got back to the bare accelerator then it was great, no concerns and a really super opportunity to see what the car could do. Big smiles, will be back to Wales again post school holidays when the roads quieten down. Great to be able to check on here during the trip, so my thanks to all that contribute and help us novices, Regards Neil

Sounds like a great way to spend a week - I did a wales tour in my first year of ownership - allows you to fully bond with the car and really get to know it. In Neils case a chance to improve it ( by driving it - a simple and easy way to improve a Morgan) and engage in a bit of "fettling" to make it better. I had considered an the organ pedal idea but couldn't see the benefit - won't bother now.

I have had Morgans with and without the organ pedal and I have noticed no difference except that the organ pedal looks nicer when you are cleaning the carpets.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

I don't get on with the roller at all.
So I had an organ pedal fitted to my 2012. When painted to match the body colour they look great.
But yes they need to be fitted so that they don't stick.
The GDI fly by wire pedal can't easily be fitted with an organ pedal, but the MX5 rubber can be made to fit.

I fitted one to my 4/4 and it did take a bit of trial and error to get it working correctly. The hinged end is definitely not precision engineered! It rattled on lift off but a bit of padded tape sorted that with no adverse effect on function. I recall others in TM have had conventional pedals fitted as a third alternative. Maybe they will give info.

Having driven both, my preference is for the ‘traditional’ roller pedal. I find it easier for delicate control on bumpy roads. Also, as a roller pedal was chosen by Bugatti to fit to their 35Bs then it is good enough for my 4/4.

They should have fitted a lockable hand throttle with the suspension we enjoy, just like a proper Land Rover By fitting the organ pedal you are eroding the originality of the beast to me, I mean you'll be telling me you fit badges on the cars in a minute

Good idea; maybe MMC would market that as cruise control.

Maybe they will - those Land Rover one's were invaluable in Africa on the rough terrain and saved the passengers from heaving too We have CC on both the tin tops and use it a lot, I think they are license savers TBH and they give you more latitude to concentrate on the road conditions and not white vans on the verge..
