At their reasonable price it is worth a try, especially if you want a backup camera. I was thinking about locating a backup camera under the three wheeler so I could see if the tail was or was not going to drag or hit something.

I have had the garmin satnav with dash cam since it came out and had no issues.

Those having problems I wonder if they tried to use a full Europe map on the sd card and record to it? I use two sd cards in mine (at the same time there are two sd card slots)

Never had the unit crash.

I'll second that.

We used it straight out of the box.

I tried the Nextbase 612 on the windscreen of my plus 4, tried both the suction mount and the adhesive mount with the same result, unwatchable footage due to vibration. Contacted support and was told engine frequency was matching camera and there was no solution. I returned to Amazon for a refund.

Try it, it might work but make sure you can return for a full refund just incase.

I had a Nextbase but returned it due to a clicking noise on the recording every time we hit even slight bump. I then bought a TOGUARD Dash Cam with GPS that is mounted on an adhesive pad. I had to reverse the swivel part of the mount to get it to work on the near vertical windscreen of the Morgan. It cost only €60 and produces a good quality video. I decided to buy a second one but the model was discontinued. I then bought a Z-Edge which mounts on a suction mount in the Jag.

My experience with low cost, but carefully selected Chinese dashcams has been quite reasonable.

Thank you all, it's given me something to think about and some pitfalls to avoid, thanks.

Interesting that insurers now seem to ask if one is fitted before quoting.

Interesting and sad as George Orwell’s wold comes to life, you do realise if you hand over dash cam footage to the police they will view the whole thing not just the accident. So every minor misdemeanour no matter how harmless that you or anyone you film commits can be prosecuted.
It’s crap like this that makes me despair, another fine example of the depths to which we are sinking and the speed with which 1984 is becoming a reality was in the Top Gear Electric car special, where they rave about the Toyota E prototype and then say the great looking backlit Honda logo on the nose will be dropped in production as would be considered advertising and therefore break EU rules.

Give me strength, that one statement alone screams “get the hell out of the EU”. Trade agreements are great, free’r travel laws are great, joint defence agreements are OK, but this is just self justifying, self sustaining bureaucratic BS.

Sounds like nonsense to me. To start off with, I assume that you meant to type Honda E prototype.

If this was the case we would have to see all badges removed from cars and that is patently ridiculous. What's more many vehicles, including the latest Moto Guzzi, incorporate a logo in the headlights. See the stylised eagle in the photo below.

I am afraid that this really smacks of false news to me. I can find no EU regulation that could support such a statement.

The real reason that it will be dropped is more likely that a central third light is likely to be confusing. If I recall there were similar issues for the central Cyclop's eye headlight on the Morgan electric three wheeler.

Unfortunately we are living in a world where regulations are becoming more intrusive however that is not unique to the EU. Look at the problems Morgan had getting the 3 wheeler to pass the Australian Design Rules (the "moustache", changed indicator position, etc.), look at how the Australian Luxury Car Tax the effects most Morgans, in fact it seems that it is likely that the Plus 6 will not be available in Australia because of the high cost of compliance and the limited number that will be sold after the application of the LCT increases the price. There is absolutely no reason why Australia could not accept that EU, or UK homologation, could be valid for Australia but the regulators have decided that Australia needs their own parallel, but slightly different rules.

Personally I think this would be a good reason for Tasmania to “get the hell out of the” Commonwealth of Australia. somestick

.....and back to dashcams - Lidl are currently doing a special on a dashcam this week for £39.99, which I have just bought, but I haven't unboxed it yet. Their stuff is remarkably good for the price, so I rather expect it to work well, but in the event, they will take it back, no questions asked, if re-boxed and with proof of purchase. It could be one to try?
