We do carry a five cup pot with our home grind when traveling. I really do not like the brown colored hot water in the motel lobby

Brown colored water,, good description. I had a friend who liked his coffee so weak that you could read any text imprinted on the bottom of the inside of the cup. Nasty stuff indeed.

When I was working in the cigar factory in Cardiff we had Flavia sachet machines. £1 a week nominal donation. One was in the area outside my office..... innocent
A nice range of flavours. I liked the Arabica and the Colombian. Averaged 4/5 cups a day. Much nicer than the big machine dispensers in the tea bars. It wa a fast machine too so no hanging around. If I recall correctly the cost per sachet was 40-50p so cheap coffee for me!
I would occasionally get told by the girls......”Phil, you need to switch to the decaf, you’ve had enough caffeine today).

Timely return to the thread..... our Dolce Gusto has just packed in so looking for a replacement.
I am tempted to go for bean to cup but swmbo likes the pod style for convenience. I used to make cold coffee sometimes from the DG, add ice and enjoy a chilled latte. Very nice. The cold filtration systems look fun....might experiment with one. Now...where’s my glass blowing burner? Ah the memories of glass blowing for the lab.

Can you still get Camp coffee I wonder, that makes great iced coffee that liquid gold.

Not that bothered about the hot stuff it's ok if there is no tea to be had, a lot of farting around for not very much.

Camp Coffee is alive and well: brilliant cold and as a flavouring for icing and cakes.

Camp Coffee is a Scottish food product, which was first produced in 1876 by Paterson & Sons Ltd., in a plant on Charlotte Street, Glasgow. Almost one hundred years later, in 1974, businessman Dennis Jenks merged his business with Paterson to form Paterson Jenks plc. In 1984, Paterson Jenks plc was bought by McCormick & Company. McCormick UK Ltd. assimilated Paterson Jenks plc into the Schwartz brand.
