Ian. I think you probably have the alloy plate which looks like a thermostat gasket with an O ring bonded to it. Em

It might be worth checking the state of your engine mount rubbers. When I replaced mine it raised the engine about half an inch which would help the front trumpet to clear the wing.

You noticed Graham! My metal rule has gone walkabout but I found that in a kitchen drawer, it's probably a valuable museum piece now.

Luddite. Your absolutely spot on regarding the Thackery washers or Jackanory washers as we used to call them the gap from memory was about 25 to 30 thou with a bit of movement, spent too many hours in my yoof fitting webbers very badly. I think Ians carbs could do with 4 new o ring plates they look overly compressed there is certainly an oil or petrol leak near or under those carbs. Em
