I've been meaning to get around to this for ages.
Here is version 1 of my “invisible” sidescreens. I think the Morgan looks much better without sidescreens but it gets pretty blustery at high speeds, so I’ve made one out of clear polycarbonate. It works well and feels like driving without screens (without the wind). Made this out of 10mm polycarbonate which is very rigid but was difficult to bend and it bubbled a bit internally when hot enough to shape (see the top right hand corner). I’ll try 8mm for the passenger side to see if it bends easier and is rigid enough in use.

They look good and preserve the nicer lines of the car but without the drafts, good luck with the 8mm.

A great idea, but I do wonder if the material round the mounts will eventually crack.
Perhaps 8mm but with 2mm stainless reinforcement laminated to the glazing below the leather trim line, and painted to match the car, might be the solution.

I made the slots longer so that the pressure isn’t close to the edge of the sheet, I also cut out slots in some penny washers and glued them to the polycarbonate so that the pressure is spread and not directly onto the plastic. Only time will tell how robust they are. When I’ve made the passenger side I’ll look at fitting some aircraft vents like the ones Kevfitz has used.

Just don't forget they are there before you lean out the window!

How about asking someone who does screens for the small planes - I would not dare to try this on my own.

It was one of the first lessons on my ecomobile when I smashed the PC sunroof - nasty expensive slide of polycarbonate...

interesting conversion..I found polycarbonate great to work with in terms of cutting (jigsaw) and drilling and shaping.
