Having spent a wee while getting to know my 4/4 80 Anniversary, it became more obvious that despite only having just over 800 miles when I was lucky enough to have found her, the paint was less than perfect, clearly showing some signs of less than ideal cleaning techniques!

There were a lot of small scratches, swirl marks and other small imperfections in the paint which started to bug me! So I decided to take the plunge and have the paintwork professionally 'corrected' and then protected with one of the new style 'ceramic' coatings!

The car was in for 3 days, a very time consuming process, especially with all the complex curves etc on the Morgan bodywork. However, the results are just awesome!

You can probably also make out the 'Tri-bar' Lucas headlights and the lovely new Si-Fab radiator (thanks to Craig Jezz for the suggestion)... that is also sporting my 'little subtle modification' as well...

I will let the pictures tell a bit of a story... (for some reason I still cannot seem to get these to load up and be accepted in the 'Pictures Thread', despite the 'Preview Post' button showing that all are there... any ideas please!)

Anyway, here she (Ruby) is!

After all that are you going to drive it on the road or trailer it home to the garage and have a look at it in there every few days.

Nice, very nice. I recently took (the expensive) plunge to have my Golf R 'corrected' and ceramic coated to put right my ham fisted attempts to clean it over the 3 years I've owned it. It looks as good as new now. I assume the ceramic coating will resist swirling?

The paint looks stunning and I do like that discreet "80" in the grill - very nice touch that I expect others may well follow. No harm in indulging your pride and joy - looks really special.

That looks stunning. Love the colour.

I had my daily driver (Skoda) paint corrected and ceramic coated, not long after getting it and it definitely makes ongoing cleaning maintenance easier.

The same guy did paint correction on the Morgan, but used traditional wax as opposed to ceramic coating. Just cleaned it this morning after a 600 mile road trip, came up very easily.

So I think if you get a good base to work from, as you have, you reap the rewards in the future when it comes to cleaning.

Stunning, just stunning!

After 5 years and 39,500 miles Tarka's paint is starting to look, well, a bit aged.
On the N/S there are fine scratches caused by foliage rubbing on the car when avoiding on-coming traffic on the minor roads here.
There are other marks and a nasty scar on the rear O/S lower wing, I think caused by a shopping trolly.
This winter I'm going to have the paintwork renovated and based on the look of Pete's car I think this "Ceramic Coating" is needed.
I have also seen, and admired, Aeroman's +8, which has also been so treated.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

That looks amazing. Slightly off topic from the paint work but the I'm particularly impressed with the bonnet straps they look perfect, did you buy new ones or 'restore' / TLC the existing ones?

My 80th Anniversary was a demonstrator and had been left out all winter, the straps have suffered as such and I've struggled to try and get them to original condition and also not been able to buy / source new ones as a spare.

Any advice welcome, many thanks.

You can see the sparkles, Pete, superb.

My 80th 4/4 looked absolutely perfect for near three years and 12k miles, not a blemish to be seen, but last week I bought new varifocal glasses, all of a sudden, it appears the car is covered in swirls and the leather is filthy. nerd

The first look in the mirror with these specs was disappointing too, fading eyesight is kindness from the creator, life is better when you don’t see the details laugh2

I understand what you are getting at.You pay a lot of money and then get stuck in a queue of traffic behind a cement mixer truck and you end up with spots all over. Or you go down a lane through cow muck and end up with spots all over. And then there are road chippings.

On the other hand it does look pretty good.

My first Ferrari arrived fully detailed looking like that except in Rosso Corsa. Combined with low mileage and silly ferrari deprecation per mile, I found myself reluctant to use the car and "saving mileage" as if I was saving money for a rainy day.

There is a lot to be said for a well maintained but scruffy 40k mile car

Mind you some people have "detailing" as a hobby.
