I am having trouble figuring out how to pull out the dipstick on my 4 speed Moss gearbox to check the gear oil level. The cap spins fairly easily, but eventually gets locked in either direction. Is there a trick to pulling this out, or do I just need to get braver and use some brute force? Am I guessing wrong that it is a threaded connection?

Helpful advice would be most appreciated.

It should just pull out.

Prise it off gently with a large screwdriver --I had the same problem when I got my Mog!
My dipstick has a cork rather than a thread.

I found an older thread with the same advice:

In my case, I have decided that my needle nose pliers is very effective for this purpose.

I did discover that I was "low" and have topped off the gearbox with 80W-90 gear oil.
