As bevel box was out i changed oil to the redline we got from the U.S.A think it makes some difference but dosent silence it completely, seems to have moved the sound to different speed, Off to TOTH next week we see how a longer ride affects the situation sherlock drive

I changed my BB oil twice. First with Redline MT-90 which did not make much of a difference. The second change to Redline Shockproof (the pink oil) produced a reduction of noise, especially the unpleasant high pitched whine. The BB now lets one know that it is there, and varies with speed, but the sound is a more pleasant mechanical sound. I did also apply sound deadening material behind the seat back and lining the drive train tunnel which helped reduce the residual sounds.

Best wishes on the success of your intervention.

I've had the Redline 250 in my BB for a few hundred miles now and agree with Skullmog.

A slight "mellowing" of the sound and over a bit wider rev band.

How frequently are you all changing the bevel box oil?

Did you change the oil when it was new at a much shorter interval to get get it manufacturing breakin particles?

I change both bevel box and engine oil every 3000 miles

I just went to the Redline website and found several Redline Shockproof oils, which one were you all using?

I loaded my BB with the Redline 80W250 a few weeks ago. Can't say that I've noticed any appreciable difference over the Redline Heavy Shockproof oil that I was using previously, although my BB has never been particularly noisy anyway. I'd be interested to learn if it has more effect on a 'screamer'.
