Changed all 5 tyres this morning. I went from ancient but hardly worn Avon Turbospeeds to Avon ZV7s. I used National tyres mobile fitting service which I could highly recommend. The new Avon’s have transformed the handling making the car feel more planted and less inclined to wander on undulating roads. If anyone’s looking for new rubber I’d recommend the Avons

Amazing what new rubber can do for a car. Can the mobile service cater for wire wheels ( assuming your plus 4 has them?).

Must admit I worried about this too but didn’t phase him at all. He even had the correct size cones on board when it came to balancing them. One of the wheels had a very slight “buckle” which took a while to balance out but he managed it (I put this as the spare as the other 4 were all perfect). I’ve no connection to National tyres at all and it’s the first time I’ve used a mobile fitter as opposed to going to the workshop but it went like a dream. Can’t speak highly enough of the service they offered

Was there a premium to pay for the mobile service?

Yes there was. The additional charge for the mobile service was, I think, a reasonable £20. Seemed good value to avoid driving into town and standing waiting

I pursuaded a friend who had the original 1999 tyres on his Plus 4 to change them last year. He said it transformed the car. The old tyres still has "legal" tread despite a reasonably high mileage but then he is not a particularly "sporty" driver.

I know how he felt! The tyres that came off were the original 1994 tyres that had done12k miles - the spare had never even been on the car. A crack on a side wall sealed their fate. (I have to admit my Yorkshire heritage made me keep the spare though - I've no idea why. It'll come in handy)
