I remember dad when I got married and all the families trying to get there nose in , do this do that and the lot of them unable to sort out a p up in a brewery . Then dad saying he wished he had gave me some money so I could have gone off and returned married . To bloody late . Well 1 week to go for daughters am I sick by hell I am my wife seems to have taken on the role of God run here go there stop start jump sit . I told Daughter many months ago to b off and I would give her the cash . It should have been me to b off and stayed till it was all over . If I had had several daughters this e-mail would have come from a tent on a secret island known only by me. That's how brass,ed off I am can not get it over with quick enough the wife is driving me crackers , anyone want a lodger for a week

Commiserations John like a bad curry it'll pass they do seem to get a bit stressy, we can fit you in from Monday onwards when No2 Daughter, husband and granddaughter leave.

You'll chill out on the day once the speech is over and have a great time we did with our two, and herself will come back down off the ceiling again.

When my daughter was young I used to tell her if she wanted to get married I’d give her a fiver and a pack of sandwiches to elope, I also used to say that if Olivia Newton John turned up at the door asking for me I was off but that’s another story.

After living and having family together, when her and her husband decided to get married they were going to have a small wedding with family but when that started to grow arms and legs she started to stress out and in the end “ran off” to Gretna Green (with our blessing) with only one couple in attendance.

They saved a lot of money and allowed us to give them much more in way of a present, I guess the moral of the story being plant the seed early and save a lot of stress all round.

Gretna Green played a big place in our family . A 1/2 cousin ran off in the 1960s rented a caravan and got married , seems to have worked still together. My great grand parents did there Gold wedding in there the 1st one ever his idea . I got my mates Rolls and did it for my parents so that's two Johns on the wall . Funny great grand father who dad and I are named after , I am his spit in looks and nature . But cannot see my face being on the wall . Spent a/noon working on the mog as it has to go on Thursday for its MOT . I find pottering in the garage doing bits of this and that on the mog etc a great stress switch off.

Total sympathy Jack, number one son is about to tie the knot and overkill is an understatement!.

SWMBO has told me son in law to be has bought me something . Hell he is from Yorkshire and as tight as two coats of paint . Could do with a new pair jeans just got in from taking the dog out ( daughters ) soaked to the skin . Funny June and I went past the area I used to live first time since the mid 1960s the quarry was called dead mans valley the ancient road track from the manor house of 1593 gone . Funny I could see our house and my parents in my mind . I remember as a boy my dad saying that once .
