Hi everyone....
I've racked up nearly 5k kms in my +4 and its been a blast... The car is coming along nicely... it seems to be settling in...
But I'm here to talk about emissions.
I have a copy of a 2018 and a 2019 COC for the +4 which as far as I am concerned is the same car.
The listed emissions for the 2018 COC are:
Urban 227g/km - 9.8l/100km Extra Urban 128g/km - 5.5l/100km Mixed 164g/km - 7.1l/100km
The listed emissions for the 2019 COC are:
Urban 266g/km - 12.6l/100km Extra Urban 160g/km - 7.1l/100km Mixed 206g/km - 9.1l/100km
So what has happened ?
Judging by my own experience I feel the car is more realistically in the 2018 stats than the 2019 stats.
It all seems a bit strange to me...
Cheers
G

It looks like the measuring method has been adapted. From an 2018 article: „WLTP will soon replace the disreputable NEDC measurement cycle, which has been in force since 1992 and no longer has much to do with reality on the roads. With the help of WLTP, the factory fuel consumption data will now be brought closer to reality.“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_Harmonised_Light_Vehicles_Test_Procedurehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_European_Driving_CycleWhether WLTP is in any case more realistic or calculates a higher consumption than the true consumption is also not entirely undisputed. But the fact is that according to the NEDC calculation many cars were rated too economical.

I think it has to do with the tuning for the new emissions testing method. During a conversation with my dealer (about a rather steep price-hike for the Plus 4 recently) he said that they had to reduce NOX emissions due to new regulations, which led to higher CO2 emissions. Therefore the Plus 4 has significantly risen in price since last year in the Netherlands, since new-car taxing is CO2 emission based over here.

It is just tax to fund Brussels et al. They see a new route to sting us & go for it. In 10 years time electric cars or charging will have to be heavily taxed. I don't see our politicians giving up the gravy train if they can help it.

An amateur question, will a 2018 Plus 4 remain at the more favorable rating of NEDC or will older Plus 4 be taxed now on the new tax rate based on WLTP, that is, new and more expensive?

Thank to Volkswagen and the "Dieselskandal" the european rules for the emissiontest have changed.
I looked for a 4/4, but there was no option for a german registration. But there must be something wrong before. Caterham stops the delivery for the car with the same engine as the 4/4 a few month earlier.
The point: the regulation and method of the test has changed.

As I said to the missus, I have no problem paying an emissions tax... After all I am emissing ... The problem is that here is Switzerland we are taxed per 1g/km emissions so the change from 164 to 206 hits pretty hard. So it would have been nice to have been able to foresee this change or for our authorities to take into account the change with some sort of transition period... But hey... G

Changing from 164 to 206 Schweizer Franken?
You lucky guy! If I ordered the MOG my wife asks me about the anual tax. I told her: our Polo has 1.2 litres, the MOG has 2.0, may be it's the same, only two times. It isn't. It's much!!! more. Don't know how much, at home I'll have a look at the bill.
