I've been contemplating an exhaust and manifold change for a while.
Meabh has the 110 Aero Racing exhaust on his Plus 4, and likes it a lot. I've asked him if he's also had the ECU flashed over.
I've also talked it over with BHM, and a customer of theirs who both tell me that the manifold and exhaust change makes a noticeable difference to performance, even without the ECU flash.
I'm wondering - because the ECU flash is the Clubsport spec....if this will make the engine more top end, so needing revs to perform.
I'd welcome any thoughts from anyone who has had either upgrade done, and also knows what the standard GDI feels like.
Because before long, I'll be getting that manifold and exhaust...…………..so the flash is my only uncertainty...…...30bhp more would be nice if it was mid range torque based.

Yes do it Dave and I may follow. My 110 has the aero racing rear half so I'm part way there!

If it were me, I'd do the hardware first and experience the difference. The decision to flash o change the ECU would then be an easier one to make, perhaps..?

From a lot of experience with motorcycle exhausts, some experience with car exhausts, and more recently with my Plus 4 including a lot of work on the ECU calbration, I would say that you would definitely need a re-flash to get the best out of it. I would not worry about the drivability of the car, you will probably get an improvement across the range. It is not as if you are changing the cams or size of the valves etc which could have the effect of shifting the power band.

I want to agree with Peter. In my case, the remapping of the ECU at 4/4 was mainly a gain in torque at medium rpm. And as Peter says, the camshafts remain the same and also the geometry of your cylinders so that it will not come to a strongly changed character of the engine. Also the new manifold will be tuned to the capacity of the engine. It would be nonsense to build the manifold in such a way that it only improves higher revs because your engine remains in its essence as it is and that should be improved.

Not a GDi, but when I added a set of proper headers to my 4/4 Sigma, the increase in power was very obvious. I then had the ECU refresh and to be honest, I felt nothing! But the 2 together clearly have benefits in drivability which is great.

Can you tell us a little more of your impressions and then `I can relate it to my own`? I think that what Heinz has said is sensible too. I have relayed my impressions to Dave, bearing in mind that I have only had our car a month now and am still treating it gently. Jamie at BHM said I could wind it up and I trust his advice but its my first brand new Morgan so I am being cautious.
