I can't imagine a weeping seal, or even a really leaking one increasing oil temp.
With only 500 miles on the car the weep could be caused by combustion blow-by as the rings may not be fully run in yet. The orifice in the intake where the vent hose from the crankcase attaches is only .1" according to the S&S manual, so the vacuum 'seen' by the crankcase is limited, and excessive blow-by could exceed the negative pressure provided by the crankcase vent and seek an alternative path out of the engine.
I would keep the area clean and check it every few hundred miles, and likely it will diminish as the miles build. If it's getting worse by about 2k miles, then I'd take it up with the dealer or MMC.

I hope you are correct. I will clean it thoroughly before the next long (150 mile) drive.

Oil only a small weep doesn’t go on the belt ! Makes the back plate slightly oily.

Mine has been bone dry from day 1, but since having the cams replaced and a new timing belt it has starred to weep. Not by much but enough to leave an oily film on the garage floor and under the engine.

Could this be related to wet-sumping when the vehicle is standing for long periods?

Mine start weeping immediately when I drive it. Wipe the underside of the vehicle clean and before 10 miles is reached it has oil on it and will drop oil within 5 minutes of exiting the vehicle.

Could this be related to wet-sumping when the vehicle is standing for long periods? That's an interesting thought, IMHO, and could very well be. The X-wedge moves a lot of air internally as those huge pistons move up and down, and if the sump had a bunch of oil in it the available air volume could be reduced sufficiently to raise crankcase pressure during the few seconds it takes for the scavenge pump to clear the sump.
