Just noticed today after 320 miles on new engine, a little wetness on front chassis cross tube. Then found the source was the bottom vent/drain on timing belt cover, with corresponding slight oil patch on garage floor. Clearly not too bad at the moment and assuming its the front crank oil seal weeping. Will it get worse or am I getting overly optimistic it will seal better later? - experience suggests not

Check also the oil feed & return connections...unless you're positive it's from within the front case...in which case, tell the dealer & get it sorted on your 1000 mile service.

Thanks, yes did suspect the oil pipes initially as they are close to cross tube, but it was just blowing back onto it from cam belt cover, so little doubt in my mind. At least if its just a new seal required, should be an easy replacement.

At my last service, MMC told me that the front c/s oil seal was leaking and they replaced it under warrantee - I did not even have to ask.
But it still leaks!

But it still leaks! Spoke to my dealer today to book first 1000 mile service and to discuss the leak, which although modest is still there (spot of oil on garage floor after every long run). He suggested that my problem is not unique and that MMC in collaboration with S & S may offer an improved seal in the future.

Had a slight leak on my May 2015, a few drops on garage floor and on the back of the front no plate, supposedly fixed at first service, but still leaked, reported it to dealer, but now some 500 miles later before i could take it back seems to have stopped by itself

1000 mile service just completed. Investigation of slight but consistent oil leak from bottom of timing cover reveals its coming from at least two of the three camshafts. The mechanic showed me photo's confirming. Strange as would have laid money on the front crankshaft seal being the culprit.
Issue has been registered with MMC, so will just monitor the situation in the meantime.

As mentioned in another thread had the camshaft oil weeps attended to under warranty on my 1500 mile car. Was surprised that the timing kit MMC supplied for the job included new cams, pulleys and belt pre-assembled on intermedate cam plate, when all I was expecting was a couple of seals. Shouldn't complain though as not a sign of oil now after a 60 mile run today.
I do wonder if the old? parts returned to MMC are shipped back to S&S for free replacement, since there is nothing like a financial loss for the OEM to spur on material improvements.
