Hi,
I took a drive out in my 4/4 Sunday morning over to Denbies for breakfast in their Gallery restaurant.
Planned a nice route avoiding the M25 and sticking to B roads where possible.
Set off with the roof down and side screens off as the forecast I read was for cloudy but brightening later (no mention of rain).
Less than 5 minutes into the journey it started to rain! Not to be detered we carried on convieneced it was only a brief shower!
It continued for the whole journey and even beagn to get harder as we arrived at the Vineyard.
I quickly parked and took off my headrests so that I could fit the tonneau while it sat in the car park.
The view from the Gallery consisted of me watching the rain pour over my newly polished car!
When we returned to the car a couple of hours later the tonneau had 2 rather large puddles on it, one each side of the zip.
Stupidly I lent forward to carefully open the zip and both puddles poured straight into the car!! between them I reckon that was at least a gallon of our finest acid rain all over my leather seats and carpets......I could have kicked myself :-)

Today I spent the day removing both seats, lifting up the carpets and hanging them out to dry while blowing a heat gun gentley into the footwells to dry out the wooden floor!!

Oh the joys of our English weather coupled with our stiff upper lip and refusal to stop and put up the roof and not to mention the stupidity bit lol

Red fate, You are not the first to do that and I'm sure you will not be the last!!

As they say in the 'F1' world... always have the right tyre on (hod configuration!) for the conditions as they are now... not what they might be in 5 minutes...!

Thanks for sharing I suspect you have saved some of us from a similar experience.

My tonneau cover with zip is not watertight.
That is the reason for always using the storm cover whenever hood down and possible rain at parking outside.

We can all get caught in the rain, but the above is a bit "precious" isnt t? Remove the seats, presumably after disconnecting the wiring for the heating and electric movement. Then re-installing and re-booting the ECU for the memory function. lot of work!

I got caught in the rain yesterday. So I briefly stopped, pressed the button and put the roof up before continung.

Instead of 'Kicking Yourself", perhaps a better title for this thread should have been...

"Wetting Yourself'!

Same here Heinz , when I finally decide to treat my car to a new tonneau I am going to get a flap fitted to cover the zip and gain some protection, that will minimise water ingress from the centre. However I find that with the side screens in place the rain goes down the sides of the tonneau and into the cockpit. I can't find a way to minimise this without removing the side screens, which is why I do as you do and utilise the storm cover whenever I can f there is a risk of heavy rain.

When we had a fold-out camper trailer we put a football in the middle underneath the storm cover so that it wouldn't have puddles formed on it.
