After 8 years my heater control is no longer able to be moved either way.

On the way back from Wales on Friday it didn't help towards a comfortable journey that I couldn't turn the heat off other than closing the vents!!

I wonder if any of you have had this happen to them and if any mechanically minded person could tell me what is involved in fixing it.

I ask because my local dealer is so busy that he is quoting second week of October to book it in and I would like it fixed more quickly??

Many thanks

David,
grovel under the dash and spray any visible mechanical levers & wires with AC50.

I just realised the car is 8 years or older.
Is the heater control knob on the heater box by the radio?
If it is it comes off after you unscrew a small Allen screw.
Then spray the shaft with AFC50 or other penetrating oil.
If it is on the dash I cant help.

HI John.
Thanks for your input - the control is on the dash
Managed to get someone to look at it next week so we will see what is needed.

I had my dashboard out this morning. The round control is on the right. One can see the radii of the mechanism easily behind the dash and it is very simple to lubricate it.
