I've heard that the high seating position is something to do with being able to see over the bonnet, presumably to stop us driving over wayward children or drunks lying in the road. I don't know about you but I haven't driven over any of the aforementioned in 40 years of Morgan driving. That said my wife and I came as close as it is possible to being taken out by the driver of a van coming out of a side road last week. I guess we need someone to become familiar with 'Regulation No 125 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations (UN/ECE) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to the forward field of vision of the motor vehicle driver.'

Lots of lovely reading and interesting appendices but I guess what it all boils down to is we need someone to come up with a non-compliant after-market seat. This will be difficult as there's not much scope for lowering the seat and still providing runners for adjustment.
Looking at the CX chassis/platform picture on the MMC site it appears that the floor level is level with the bottom of the wooden frame. On a trad model the frame sits on the top of the upper flange of the chassis whilst the floor boards sit on the lower one. Got a tin opener anyone? That seat's still enough to put me off buying the car mad2

I must disagree, lowering a seat, is not beyond the whit of man?

The seat, the seat foam, the seat frame, the seat runners - even the floor, all of these are adjustable and therefore can be lowered....

Yes Mark I agree but my post said ‘difficult’ not impossible. The challenges appear to be an already thin squab and a shallow seat mechanism. My first approach would be to consider bolting the seat to the floor and abandoning the runners (if practicable) having first established where I need it. Lowering the floor looks to be a step too far but again, not impossible.

I want the car and can afford it but I’m not minded to spend the thick end of a hundred grand to develop the car myself.

You misunderstand me. What irritates me about the revue was the focus on such irrelevances as he mentioned. The Plus 6 is a sports car so preformance is everything. That was to me one of the things wong with my F type - the focus on rubbish like "infotainment" and powered door handles. Its also the reason that I went backwards this time from a 430 to a 360 to try and get a more analogue car.

The absence of nonsense life infotainment and electric seats and abs and traction control is IMO one of the strengths of MMC

Who knows. In my Lotus days, my track record was to keep a car for 7 to 10 years but as I get older I get more interested in a triouble free life so maybe a Pious next?
