I can assure you mine doesn’t take any force to push on out of alignment but needs a lot to get off.
It’s a bad design and needs sorting in my opinion.

I know I keep banging on about this but only because I’m told it’s impossible to do or user error, it’s not!

Picture of double spline, too recessed, with witness mark where single spline has slid over it.

Lightspeed's column shows the same indent as Obie in the double width spline presumably caused by trying to refit the wheel in wrong orientation.

I think it’s a poorly made part, the splines have raised edges when I guess they were rolled in.
So you have a dip in the double spline and narrow weak raised edges to the single splines.
This is what it should look like.

Excellent photos Obie, and I agree with you that it could be better.

Thanks for your comments and excellent pics. Took the wheel off today and in bright sunshine could see 3 to 4mm scratch marks on the double spline. Also tried pushing the boss one spline adrift and ,yes, it jams on very nicely requiring a goodly tug to remove it.
I have also looked more closely at how the unlocking ring sits when in place and I will feel more confident now. I did notice how slack the boss is in the shaft, quite a good side to side movement. Perhaps the splined shaft and the boss are made by two different firms. The boss is made in France according to Mr Google. I have emailed MMC expressing my concerns. I have noticed, having joined the Morgan fraternity, that mutual help amongst the owners is essential given the number of foibles exhibited by the five speeders.
