Went to start my 2017 M3W and no tick-tick-tick when turning the key. Fuse is fine, and tried the inertia switch, but no-go. Somewhat surprised at the failure scenario - thought in general they were dying while running, not at cold start. Any ideas of anything else it should check?

Else, I suppose I'm going to have a chat with the dealer on Monday and get them to schedule a replacement...

Was planning on the Distinguished Gentleman's ride at the end of this month, but that's looking less likely now unfortunately!

If the roll over switch behind the RH side of the oil tank is OK try checking the power to the pump at the plug under the pump cover on the top of the RH fuel tank. If that is good then the pump is suspect. If no power at the plug try transposing the relays, I think the pump one is the same as 2 or 3 others. If it is the pump then this may be helpful:

Only took me about 45 minutes to replace the fuel pump and had the Wally (Walbro) pump overnighted, no need to get a dealer involved with associated cost, etc.

I spoke w/ the dealer this week, and as I'm still under warranty for a few more months, they are ordering me a new pump. When that one fails, which it almost certainly seems likely to at some point, I'll go the replacement route nicely documented by Ian Brett & Andrew Warren. They'll ship it over to me and let me install it, which is very helpful as it saves me a fair bit of travel time both ways!

Timing stinks as I was planning on doing the DGR this Sunday! But I guess it's better that it died in my garage than in the middle of Philadelphia...

Finally received a new pump from the dealer, and today managed some time to replace it. Hardest part was removing the damn pump cover! Some amazing industrial strength silicone seal used on that, and no easy way to separate the two plastic bits - and it was not obvious to me that there was a screw in the middle of the two holding them together since is was also covered with gobs of silicone...

In any event, before pulling the old pump, I plugged the new pump in, hit the ignition briefly, and it ran. So away we go - remove/replacement no problem following the excellent instructions. Everything back together, and... nothing! Pull the fuel lines again, and the top cover, and check for power - nothing at the pump terminal.

Checked the inertia switch, but re-setting it didn't change anything. Pulled the connector to it and one of the terminals looked like it had been arcing or hot. Didn't expect to find that, but not sure if it's the issue. Fuse is fine, have not tried the relays yet. I assume the inertia switch controls power to the pump or pump relay, so one of the leads should be hot with the ignition on I would suspect?

I'll try to swap the relays around tomorrow and see if that reveals anything, but any other ideas?

I re-read the post, it was the connector to the inertia switch which is under the oil tank I believe. Maybe Morgan moved it around over the years but I recall reading about resetting it under the oil tank.

It still is ugly😱

The inertia switch is a single pole on/off so there should be 2 wires, a live feed in and a switched feed out.

You can simply bridge the connector with a spare bit of wire to see if that's the issue.
