Next year after my rebuild my MOG is have a print job, that is costing a petty penny or two. I saw in MOG magazine back in the March 2019 a company called Pyramid Car Care that is offering to put a 'Ceramic Coating' onto a cars paint work. In the article it claims that you can protect your paint work for up to 2 years. Apparently in a test after coating the car in this Ceramic Coating they covered the bonnet in brake fluid and after 20 minutes it simply washed off leaving no marks. At £300 it's not cheap. Has anyone in MOG land had this stuff put on? What's your verdict?

I have had ceramic coating on another classic car and its much cheaper than plastic film and has worked very well indeed. Definitely a good idea ! I was told to only use water to clean with , no car cleaning products !

We had an issue with my wifes Jeep.

It is white and after it was washed, there were lots of dirty ingrained marks.

It is 2.5 years old.

I spent an hour or so with insect remover and one of the solutions to remove brake dust from the paint even then there were still some marks left.

The next day I used the insect remover again and all the marks were gone as the marks were now softer and were easy to remove.

I then used this two pack ceramic coating as used by proffesional detailers.

Probably took three or four hours to apply both coats.

The cars now cleans with no dirty marks remaining.

The ceramic coating was arouns £10. This is what I used.

I have had training on ceramic coatings my cost is £750 for detail and polish that’s why I took plastic coating on my plus 4 so much cheaper.

Also some only last 2 years cheaper with polish.

My Morgan had paint protection film applied when I bought it, it protects the most vulnerable areas of the paintwork brilliantly.
For me, part of the joy of owning a beautiful car like a Morgan is the feeling of satisfaction you get from polishing it. I use Autoglym super resin polish followed with extra gloss protection, I find once or twice at most annually is enough.

Was just reading your post regarding Pyramid Car Care and their ceramic coating procedure.
It was actually my Aero 8 that was featured in the Mog magazine, I have to say the advice, service and finished result provided by Ryan and his team was second to none.
After the coating the silver paintwork took on a unbelievable shine and the ceramic helps to protect from scratches and any dirt just slides off.
The coating was applied in December 2018 and since than I have only washed the car twice. I did however have it transported home in a
covered trailer...... it was a cold and wet winter day !!!!
Anyway give them a call, really good company.
