I was born 1963, when younger I often wished I was born about 1950 so I could have grown up seeing all the great bands from the 1960's like the Beatles and got my licence in the late 1960's when sports cars still existed. Getting my licence in 1980 meant buying cars from the 1960's that were really falling apart by then or from 1970's after car design style went down hill and the cars were still falling apart.

Now I am older knowing that given enough money cars can be restored to be much better than new and Tribute Bands do a good job of reliving what I was too young to have seen I now wish I was born after 1968 so I could have started work after smoking in offices had been banned, starting work and being in an office with 10 chain smokers where you couldn't see the other side of the room was disgusting.

But for the Morgan Trad I think the long doors and lowline style body looks nicer and I really like over riders so initially liked cars from about 2003 when the 35 anniversary +8 was released - I thought it looked really smart with the over riders when I first saw one. But never really like the huge ugly airbag steering wheel fitted to that model in Australia. Now that the cars have passed design rules (or get passed using some low production rules) with a non airbag steering wheel and fitting a nicer Moto-Lita steering wheel seems to be acceptable I like the newer cars from this decade.

At what point does a car made in the year 2000 become a classic or trad?

Given the CX generation cars are now the new kids on the block I guess the Aero chassis cars become Trads at some point

I hate to disagree with DaveW, but the best 4/4 engine is the 1.6 Sigma - revvy and fun as well as highly tuneable.

Yes Sigma for me. Lightweight and never needs attention. Looks best in a black car.

I couldn't agree more with DaveW,
The Duratec 1.8 in the 4/4 is such a sweet engine.
Today is very wet in Devon and the Mog is cosy and dry in the garage sporting its replacement dash, steering wheel and gear knob. Bling doesn't suit the machine in my opinion.

If anyone out there would like similar I might be persuaded to get busy on another set. No guarantees as to fitness for purpose.


Of course, the originals are not really going in the bin. That's for garden waste and recyclable stuff only!
