Had a play on the t'interweb.

AVO Shocks from Morgan Dealers seem to range from £148 to £162 (plus VAT) - Williams, HOE, New Elms, Wolf

AVO Shocks from non Morgan Specialists (TB334) range from £102 to £120 (plus VAT) - Merlin, DC Performance

Are they the same? Or are the ones through Morgan specialists of a different spec?

I've gone straight to the horses mouth and emailed AVO direct. Turns out they're only about 10 miles away from me....

Edit: It will be interesting to get to the bottom of this. GOMOG says: WATCHPOINT There are another two AVO shocks designed for Morgans. One was sold by MogSport and the other directly from AVO. The Mogsportt AVOs are very popular with racers. However, the shock bought directly from AVO has had consistent sad reports.

Wolf are saying there's are the same spec as the Mogsport ones, which, according to the above is different to the Rutherford AVO's and again different to the standard AVO.

And a response from AVO:

"New Elms have several different units each to their own specs and part numbers .

They are the specialists and we would send most Morgan enquiries to them."

I know it's been posted a few times but it is very interesting on this topic, here again:

http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/shocks.html

From what I've seen and read on here, New Elms have the rights to the Rutherford AVO and are highly rated.

I understand Cain (Wolf) also does a version and having had dealing with him, he is superb with advice and will steer you in the right direction if needed.

It is interesting to see the comments, I'd also like to know what type of damper was used and if anyone fitting the rear AVO had the same improvement at the back.

I posted this (link below) regarding the right (and different) types of AVO front and rear shocks.

I am sure the mentioned dealers will be helpful to double check the right item before delivering it by taking the model of car and the year of production into account.

I was going to suggest you talk to Tim Ayres at New Elms...

Pete,

I bought them from a fellow forumite, I understand the are from Wolf.

I rarely get 'professionals' to work on my cars I prefer to do everything my self if I'm able.

Shocks are very easy to replace, around 20 mins per side. Took longer finding the right size spanners!

This might explain my recent experience, (as posted above) with AVO's completely worn out after 4000 miles. Bought direct? Now fitted Koni's. All good.

I saw that, but Mulfab are currently only offering SPAX dampers. It gets very confusing!!!

I've decided to get a set from New Elms - just waiting for an invoice smile
