Some weeks ago, PC Andrew Harper was tragically killed whilst on duty. He was a well respected young man who had been married for just one month. I’ve known Andrew’s wife Lissie’s parents for many years, not well, but enough to feel genuinely sad for them and Lissie. The events leading up to his death have been well reported in the media, so I don’t need to say any more about that. What may not be widely known is that a Ride of Respect has been organised by the biker community. This tragedy seems to have touched the heart of the nation and there are more than 9000 people registered so far. Not everyone will be riding but there will be thousands taking part. Morgan 3 Wheelers are welcome to join, it would be great if we could have a few attend, I’m already registered. The date for the ride is Sunday 27th October, from RAF BENSON to ABINGDON Airfield. There is a registration fee of £5 per person (or more if you’d like) to cover costs, any surplus going in the right direction. If any of you guys and gals would like to join me and thousands of others on this Ride of Respect, I would suggest we meet up at my place (plenty of parking) before heading in convoy to RAF Benson (6 miles). Thank you Shaun, fabulous! I’ll make sure it gets in the right hands. It’s a shame you can’t make it. It’s an opportunity for us demonstrate our respect and thanks, not just for the police, but to all the responders across the different services.
And talking about responders, I’m now feeling much better since my unexpected ambulance ride last week to the hospital, a great crew made sure I was kept comfortable. One more thing - antibiotics Rock! Looks like they’ve fixed me, long may they continue to be effective 👍

Just a short update for this Sunday’s Ride of Respect .... The count is in! 4769 Registered 69 Trikes 4166 Motorbikes 534 Pillions It will be a day of mixed emotions, but also a day to be remembered for good, positive reasons. So many people, most of whom didn’t know PC Harper, coming from far and wide to honour his memory. What an amazing sight it promises to be, myself and PaulV will be joining up and departing from RAF Benson. Groups will leave in traffic controlled waves from 12:00 onwards, could take quite awhile to leave ......

RAF Benson was where our family spent six years back in early 1960's
I went to Wallingford Grammar, now defunct.
A blast from the past!
