Anyone know what size filter removal cup is for the s&s filter? Despite having a few none fit, I think it's about 74mm or 75mm? 15 flutes.
Thanks,
Landy

I use a canvas oil filter strap wrench with a 1/2" drive, lots on ebay for about £4. The filter shouldn't be on very hard, just a bit over hand tight. The K&N KN171B has a spanner fitting on the end and locking wire holes, useful.

I use a strap wrench. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/11/06/FineWiringPractice.jpg) This is a mess that I will rectify, cursing Morgan the entire time.

A strap wrench will fit, a chain one won't

I have a large number of cup wrenches for oil filters. Even using Mazda filters, the MK1 and MK2 filters need three different sizes cup wrenches.
The Mk3 needed two but Mazda have just changed it again and even with about 15 cap wrenches both 14 and 15 flutes it now needs a slightly smaller cup wrench than i have.
Best wishes finding a cup wrench that fits your three wheeler every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone, I like the precision of a cup tool. Agree with the wiring being a bit close to the filter, bit of a nest. Anyway removed with a strap for today. Thanks for the great pics Stephen. 😎👍 These are the jobbies I like to use. filter cup

The Flann is the best option as it has a smaller hex. on the rear of the filter.

Hello Landy,
I've got a Harley, and some of my friends 've got some bikes too.
In the first years I allways like the cupstyle tools. But than I noticed that the different filters need different cuptools.
Now I' ve got a (german) HAZET cupstyle tool, a (leather) strap tool (also HAZET) an some stuff from "W&W" (the german S&S dealer).
If you go the cupstyle way be sure that the next filter likes your tool. It's frustating sitting in the garage, the oil is out and the tool is the wrong one.
In bad situations the old basic "screwdriver method" will work.
Some tools I've got:
