Nice run out to Buckfast Abbey for a Cream Tea, lots of kayakers in evidence at Salmons Leap due to the Dart being in full flow nothing interesting on the road but the autumn colours still looking splendid.

The best bit of the day was ringing a muffled peal on 6 bells this morning for the Remembrance service always a special time, our thoughts are with those Ringers that are no longer with us too as when a Ringer dies the team rings a muffled peal at your funeral. The only other time one should be rung is when the Queen or King dies ordinarily although you can ring one for the vicar's death if the team all agree.

Yes up to the Hermes Courier drop off and then to Dorking and back to test out new tyre pressures up from 21 all round to 22 at the front and 23 at the rear. This seems to be my sweet spot.
I noticed that the tyres had lost 2-3lbs each wheel over the month and so made a mental note to check more regularly.

(Yesterday in truth) to the Snooty Fox in Shalford for bacon butties then on to Godalming, Elstead and back through Cobham. Lovely run in glorious sunshine

The Morgan enjoying the sunshine in Shalford. A Jackdaw was busy in the tree above and managed to dislodge a decent amount of Lichen and bark into the car, good work.

The first 1000 miles
My Morgan had only 4870 miles on from new even though it is 10 years old and so I imagine has not really been run in. It travelled only 85 miles from August 2014 to August 2017 and then another 307 to August 2019, so less than 400 miles in the last 5 years.

After just shy of 1000 miles of usage over the three months of ownership I feel more confident in this car. I notice that the engine revs a little more freely and is quieter and smoother (?). The gearbox still feels a little 'notchy' to me and I wonder if it will achieve the legendary Mazda slickness that others comment on. The suspension, although shocking at first, seems more pliable and feels as if it is working for me rather than against me. I managed for the first time in my life, to wield a grease gun and apply grease the front end without much drama and I do believe that it made a slight improvement and provided an opportunity to look at the suspension design and understand why it is the way it is. The rear springs remain hidden, and a mystery otherwise they would also have got a spray of lubrication.

I had some minor moments, fitted a badge bar, lowered the number plate box, found the button that adjusts the clock, removed the steering wheel and gave it a good polish, changed some bulbs and got to know this lovely thing a little better.

To say I'm enjoying the Morgan is to understate the whole experience, I am loving it to bits, the driving, the sheer joy of opening the garage and seeing it there looking beautiful and full of promise and being another something I can tinker with.

Kevin, well done. Driving on cold clear winter days is part of the fun.

Went for the TM meet at Haynes. I got as far as Turgis Green nr Reading when I stopped for fuel at 14:00. The car wouldn't start again. I suspect the immobiliser. Was recovered by Morgan Rescue to home in Felxistowe arriving at 21:00. Up at 05:00 to try in the tin top. Not a happy bunny,

Don’t think that Mazda slickness will come your way Kev as I am fairly sure that a 2009 model will have the Ford gearbox!

About 50 miles today - this morning was quite a pleasant drive to Carmarthen via Newcastle Emlyn (and also via Pentre Morgan...). Nice bendy roads and not too busy, and even a few bits of sunshine. The drive back after lunch was constant, and sometimes very heavy, rain; took the quicker, straighter route back to Lampeter!

I actually thought about taking the 4/4 today on a visit to the Museum of Timekeeping with DonMog. Then I looked at the forecast.
Getting there was OK.
Getting back was another matter. If I had not been in the Discovery, I am not sure I would have made it. A great deal of flooding in lots of places where it hasn't been seen before.

Be careful out there folks.

Run down to New Plymouth for the NZ club AGM , started in crawling Auckland traffic car and occupants over heated in the sun , then under a very threatening sky reluctantly raised roof with strong encouragement from passenger seat, boy was she right wild thunder and lightning storm and torrential rain as we pressed on through the night. Still all was snug and remarkably dry inside when we arrived with one minute to go for last orders! Heres hoping for a fine weekend.
