Since 30 years for waiting for my first Morgan, I've got it/her/him since november last year.

After the order I also bought the bespoked book. Now in the real world, yes, I'm with Mr. W and I think hmmm...
not on his his way.

But now with a very small knowledge I think it's time: please Mr. W write book no.2!

Book no.2 for the "experienced"

Looking forward

René

Yes, after "buying and maintaining" a book "buying and maintaining II".

You write about a lot of interessting things and work here and in the magazines, so I think there are some
words to write a book for the little bit more expierenced Morganeer.

I think Dave's first book is excellent. My main comment would be I found the order of the upgrades on page 33 slightly confusing. It has GDI engine, Rover Engine, Duratec engine. Makes sense to have the new engine at the top but I would have rater had the other two reversed so it went in reverse age order. I also wondered on page 25 where Dave says the narrower rims don't have space for stick on weights what width rim will take the stick on weights and what is the alternative?

So for a second book what would you want? New stuff that Dave has found out since writing the book like replacing the windscreen washer hoses so they do't split and water the electrics in the dash? If so would it be more of a second edition that stands on its own with new modifications added in or would it be written to complement the existing book with more detail on servicing the car yourself? While I hope most people own the first (I do and I don't even own a Morgan) would the second book stand on its own or would you want people to buy both to get the full picture?

Also I expect there is a lot of work in writing and cost to getting it published so I am very thankful Dave took the time and expense to write and get it printed, whether or not I buy a Morgan it was still a great read with a lot of useful information. I will certainly understand if he doesn't write another.

Hello Chris,

you are right at some points.

But it's a difference between looking forward to own a Morgan and own a Morgan.

And as you can read here, there is a lot of words about maintance and upgrade the Car.

Some ideas: how to undo the dashboard, fixing a maplamp, changing or fitting instuments/ gauges.

Regards René

It's certainly true that I could expand on edition 1 with what's happened since it was published.

The big stumbling block is the publisher, who right now isn't interested in a revised edition, even though they are delighted with how well it has sold.

Anyone who tries to get a book published will soon discover that there are stringent rules in following the corporate style. Not only does the narrative have to conform, but the side boxes, and especially the specification tables are set to a template.

So what you see is my work squeezed into that corporate template.

It was never intended to be a workshop manual, because that's not the corporate image, and besides, there are so many engine and gearbox variations since 1997, that there would be a whole book in there without anything else.

I have offered to write a three wheeler version of my book, but the publisher isn't convinced that it would sell in numbers.

So for now, I'm done!!

Thank you Dave for your words!

As the most time, you hit the nail. As you write I think about a book more like a workshop manual or technical.

So in the moment it looks my wish wouldn't go true.

About youtube: one of my friends like this manuals. But it isn't my cup ot tea. With oily fingers and the tablet looking for the kingpins?

And a lot of videos the guys looks out of knowledge.
