The bathtub of madness is a couple of days away from arriving and since I don't have a dealer to take me through the car here I was hoping some of the veterans here could take me through the list of things to avoid doing on a new engine, transmission etc ...
1. Is the engine already broken in ? 2. If no is there a mileage-rpm guideline to abide by 3. Is there a tutorial somewhere to move the pedals backwards/forward? 4. Is the engine oil hungry ? 5. Any preferred oil ? 6. I live in a hot country - any tire pressure I should follow ? 7. How long does the car take to cool down before you can safely cover it ? 8. is there an FAQ with the usual faults and issues new cars face ? Or things to monitor that tend to fail quickly ?
That should be a good start of things. Haunting this forum has made me extra cautious and I want to make sure i'm extra aware.
ETA is mid next week now

Great to hear your long wait is nearly over The engine has been through the first stages of breaking in and will have a reduced rev limiter setting of 5,125 rpm for 20 hours of operation. I found this equated to about 700 miles or so. After then it goes up to 5800 RPM. The main think is not to lug the engine. Try to keep the revs above 2,700 for normal driving. The engine should be pretty oil tight - mine uses well less than a litre between the 3,000 mile services. The S&S may use a bit of oil if you run it alt low revs (see above!) but there is 6 litres in the system so plenty of margin. As to preferred oil see the alternative parts list: https://www.mtwc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/M3W-part-numbers-V2-Word-200918.pdfTyre pressures - I'd suggest starting with 25 psi rear and 28 psi front. If anything drop the rear a psi or 2 if the pressure goes up too much when hot. Experiment with the fronts to find a balance between ride and understeer. In the UK the engine cools enough for a cover after about 10-15 mins - you'll just have to see how long it takes in the sunshine There's loads of info on here about faults, old and new but I'd say focus on enjoying the car rather than looking for issues. And finally - remember to enjoy then post your thoughts and

Hello Red Leader! When you say that .....The engine has been through the first stages of breaking in and will have a reduced rev limiter setting of 5,125 rpm for 20 hours of operation. I found this equated to about 700 miles or so. After then it goes up to 5800 RPM....... are you saying that points 1, 2 and 3 of the "Break-in Procedure for V-Twin Motors" is already done by MMC while we have our 3 wheelers delivered?

Yes, the engine will have been initially run in and the first service and oil change will be due after 1,000 miles / 1,500km or 3 months. Then every 3,000 miles / 4,500 km or annually. Bear in mind the S&S details above are generic and cover uses such as custom bikes with lower oil capacity, no fan cooling and possibly carbs instead of electric fuel injection. Just treat it lightly for the first few 100 KM and slowly increase the revs/load from then on.

I would add for your long term running pleasure that the recommended engine rpm's by S&S apply to bikes. The usual bike using this motor weighs in at around 750-800 lbs. Our beasties start at 1200 lbs dry. I've detected stress at 3,000 rpm and I think that the lower rpm's will eat the compensators. My original compensator died at 22,000 miles and that was for the H-D design on the 2012 model. The replacement Centa unit has passed 30,000 miles and shows no sign of wear. I keep the revs up, never lug the engine and try to keep the engine at the sweet spot of 3,700 rpm or so. I've seen too many YouTube videos of our cars being driven at around 2,000 rpm and cringe. The torque this engine produces is awesome and dangerous. The torque spikes will eat the transmission without the compensator and a too low rpm rate can even sheer the crankshaft!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

as for engine cool down. I have found that the humidity makes a huge difference.... When it is humid it takes a LOT longer on a hot day. I do not think that will be an issue for you.
