Hearing their exchange , the pilot of the plane said to his co pilot , Such big shots back there.

A Politician was hit by a bus and died. He arrives at the Pearly Gates and greeted by St Peter.
Hello. Said the Politician. I wish to enter. Let me in
Before you do there is a choice replied St P.
Just let me in ...demanded the Politician.
Not yet replied St P, you must try both Hell and Heaven.
Go into that lift to take you to Hell where you will spend a day.
In goes the Politician and down, down, down goes the lift. It stops and the doors open to reveal a lush landscape with a golf course. On it he sees many other friends, ex politicians all. They greet him warmly and he has a great time playing superb golf. Lunches in the clubhouse on lobster, caviar and champagne. The Devil is there and a perfect host. At the end he goes back up in the lift to the Pearly Gates. St P takes him into Heaven for the day
He has a day floating from cloud to cloud greeting everyone he meets, having a nice time.
At the end St Peter asks for his choice.
Well, he says, Heaven was nice but yesterday Hell was even better. I choose Hell.
St P replies...if that is final your choice go to the lift.
In he goes, down again. The doors open to reveal a desolate landscape with his friends shuffling about picking up rubbish into black bags as more falls from above. The devil is there in full red garb, smirking.
What has happened? Asks the Politician. Yesterday this place was the best I have known.
Ah, replied the Devil.
Yesterday we were campaigning.

I woke up swathed in bandages, in a hospital ICU, tubes entering
different parts of my body, wires monitoring every function, a
gorgeous nurse hovering over me.
It was obvious I'd been in a serious accident. I heard her say,

I managed to mumble in reply
