Your clutch pedal goes to the floor? First check....Is there any fluid in the master cylinder? If not then is there a leak? Are the master/slave seals (internal) ok? Service kits are available. Bleeding is similar for clutch as brakes but easier as usually just the one bleed nipple on the slave cylinder. To be safe your best option is get someone (competent) to show you how to do it. It is not difficult. Are there courses in a local college? There are gadgets you can use instead of someone pushing the pedal.

I heed the concerns/caution and appreciate them. I will make sure I know what I'm doing and will run through all the checks to make sure correctly done, so fear not!
Luddite, for want of a better (or just different?) name (!), a step by step guide would be hugely useful!
Thank you all, again

Can anyone tell me which coolant I should be using in the radiator please? Paging Ken A.. Given that you somehow managed to put brake fluid in your radiator (??) I'd be inclined to make use of professional services...

Start with the clutch system if you want to go it alone. The most effective long term solution is to change the master cylinder and slave cylinder, fit a new flexi hose, and if necessary, a new metal hose section. That way, you won't be chasing recurring failures.
That's a leisurely day in the garage. Brakes are a different matter and if you mess up you could kill somebody.

I can do most repairs and servicing on my cars 3 of them are bmw. 1 morgan and 2 mk1 rs Escorts. As for bleeding brakes I take them to PMW workshops a bmw indie. For £60 it's not worth the hassle of doing it yourself.
