The most important outcome is the continuation of the species. We all benefit from this and we will all occupy a special place in the pantheon of Morgan ownership belonging to the group we love.
With this in mind the sequence now looks like this.

Looking at the amount of wood on a cx it looks to me like a token bit so Morgan can still claim the wooden frame heritage rather than actually being needed. Is it just me who thinks this?

Looking at the amount of wood on a cx it looks to me like a token bit so Morgan can still claim the wooden frame heritage rather than actually being needed. Is it just me who thinks this? I think the design of the alloy chassis leaves less room for the amount of wood of the trad but I'm also sure that they wanted to retain the Morgan USP of the wood/alloy coachbuilt car. Morgan have probably got the balance about right with the Plus 6. If you recall when Peter Morgan did away with the wood frame and brought out the radically more modern Plus 4 Plus and the result was that Morgan only sold 26 cars!

I’m sure that, in terms of cubic feet, there’s more wood in the plus 6 than in a trad (?)
They are quite thick sections that provide side and rear crash protection. I must remember to ask MMC........

Peter, I believe that is a completed frame which includes doors. The side impact bars are fitted at the frame build stage on the CX cars, rather than at the start of Trim as with the steel chassis.

I would have thought that the amount of suspension travel available would have little to do with on track handling, For track work the major consideration would be keeping the rubber on the road with the maximum load for the maximum amount of time possible. For this you would need the tricky balance of limiting body roll (ie keeping as much down force as possible on the inner tyres) and controlling bounce and rebound to keep the tyre on the road (good and effective damping). It would only be on a very rough track, or in offroad trials, that suspension travel would be a consideration. How about a Morgan desert racer? I agree with you. Tracks are mostly pretty smooth and even the rougher ones like Castle Combe are way better than British roads. So provided you dont have body roll such that tyres are unloaded, cornering grip is all about the tyre rubber and the tarmac. I found just that when I had an Elise which was no faster in cornering on track than any of the older Lotus there. The difference was in acceleration and braking and top speed, not cornering speed. Weight distribution, location and thigs like camber matter as well but are usually second order effecs.
