Alfas are beautiful and great to drive. We have a 1970 Giulia. But if you come from BMW or similar brands, you have to be tough: against an Alfa, a Trad Morgan is a Mercedes in terms of durability.

Wow, did a little rummaging around, the Alfa, BMW and Nissan are all over £300 per year to tax.
Mini Cooper convertible comes in at £145 if you pick the right one.
There is some reason behind the figures.
I have a small side job one week per year that earns me roughly £1000 and that pays for the upkeep of my toys, Morgan tax and insurance is around £600 per year, I expect insurance will be around £250 leaving just £150 to tax whatever I get.
More hairdresser then MX5?

I had a diesel series 3. The only thing more cruse were the jokes in the school rugby team.
Me too. Cheapest motoring I have ever had. Parts were very cheap and, usually, very easy to fit. Which is just as well considering how often you need them. Drive one of those and it will make the Morgan ride and suspension seem like a plush limousine. Not to mention the water leaks and drafts, My Series 3 had an irritating habit when it rained. After being out in heavy rain, it maintained an illusion of being water tight until the first roundabout. At which point it would empty some void in the bulkhead directly into my left shoe - and it was very accurate, always filling the shoe.

If you like spirited driving an early S2000 are great. But pretty hopeless below 5000 rpm (9000 limit) the early cars had a better turn in & steering ratio. Honda had to tone them down steering wise for the general public.

Oh yes a good suggestion, the S2000 is a great combination of well built and great handling plus that buzzy engine.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Always fancied an S2000 but at over £7000 and £325 road tax ,way above budget sadly.
As for landies, anyone seen the price of even half decent series 1, 2 or 3s?

Had a couple of midgets and yes they're OK, if a bit small. I'm thinking of something a bit more 'modern' though.
ps, anything over 40 years old is free of road tax so pre '79 now
