Perhaps there should be a register of cars that have been used on salted roads, to assist with re-sale valuation?

I used my previous Aero on 1 day with just salt dust dry roads.

Put it away in a dry garage that eve, went back to it a couple of months later and corrosion had appeared on the cowl creeping up from the bead

How would this work?

Remember there is nothing more dishonest than an honest motorist. i.e. never speeds, never drinks and drives, never parks where not allowed etc etc?

Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Aero Plus 8 goes out in all weathers. If there is salt about it gets a rinse, but if it is just grubby it goes back in the garage.
I wash the car occasionally, and more regularly use a waterless cleaner spray.

It is a car, and I don't know about others, but I get no pleasure from sitting in it in the garage going "vroom, vroom". So I go out and drive it.

Definitely on your wave length here. They are just mechanical devices to be used and enjoyed but of course with a certain degree of care as we love them. The Memsahib always reminds me when I do fuss a bit that I'm only keeping it nice for the next owner.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Agree with the comments about the Harley. Mine did the same despite being kept in a heated garage the alloy and chrome bits were ruined over just one winter.

I totally get the view that our cars are likely in many cases to outlive their owners and should be driven as much as possible for the sake of both owner and car. BUT I just cannot bring myself to put a dirty car away or to drive on salted roads. Even washing the underside afterwards does not remove the salt in nooks and crannies so I don't do it. Nor do I deliberately go for a pleasure drive in grim weather, just don't enjoy it.

Now a roof down drive on a cold but dry day with no salt about is quite another thing...

Its not the salt that worries me too much, its the grit they throw on the roads as well, that chips the paint topside and underneath, allowing the salt and damp to find its way under the paint and or protective finishes, also, its a great feeling when winters over and you can enjoy driving your pride and joy again, if it were to be used all year some of the fun would have gone.
I also do not enjoy driving in the rain, its ok in the daily workhorse but for driving enjoyment the dry weather is the better, however, each to their own.

Min.e is out at least once per week no matter what. They are there to be enjoyed and if leaving it in the garage and polishing it is your thing then that`s fine by me. I just prefer to drive mine. Each to their own and live & let live.

Sorry but my roadster is tucked away in the garage for the winter, and 5 of my other motors are sorned over winter.
When we bought the car 2 years ago it was a 2007, with only 3500mile and in what I can only say excellent condition, so my wife and I said we would keep it that way, and made a pledge that if it was raining before we were due to go out in the roadster we wouldn't go out in it, but if it rained while we were out, we nothing we could do but continue to drive, but when we got home it was washed and then fully dried off using the dog grooming hair dryer, some people may say that I'm mad, and I would agree with them.
But each to there own
