Here in the Colorado Rockies I drive the two 4 wheeled Mogs as much as I can which probably means up to around Christmas (56 inches of snow so far this year). From January to May they usually go in for "maintenance" as the normal 2 - 3 feet snow falls make it a touch difficult. I also live on 2 miles of steep dirt road so have to take that into consideration too. The 3 wheeler goes to bed in November and comes out in May. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/07/18/Zion-Bryce16MOAVII.md.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/07/18/Zion-Bryce15MOAVII.md.jpg)

I used my +8 as a daily driver for 3 years in the 1980s. Had a roof then. I would then buy cheap cars with 12 months MOT. Cars to dump at airports and train stations. Had some real dogs all bought for under £500. BMW 528i (steering failed), Lancia HPE (loved it when it worked, sheared the brake pedal off the pedal box), Renault 12 (my favourite - ran it for 3 years, never serviced, 3 MOTs and only fail was when the horn fell off. Blew the head gasket, sold it for £250, what I had paid for it). However, driving my +8 in the cold can be a challenge. In 1998 we were in Kitzbuhel for Easter. Left when it was -5C, no roof and tonneau was frozen, packing the car was a challenge. Got frostbite on my right cheek. Made it back to Cambridge in the day, just in time for a pint. 810 miles via Calais.

Year round use, just hose off the underside after salt. I haven't had one melt in 16 years. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/01/02/Morgan-20091.jpg) That road looks rather slippery , how do you stop or avoid oncoming cars/trucks ? A lot of concentration and light inputs all round but very exciting and very few others around also a bonus.

Richard makes a good point there. The reality of winter driving is that when the white stuff falls, everybody goes into meltdown and either (a) grinds to a halt or (b) the knobhead 4x4 brigade come out in order to prove their massive manhood choice by driving too fast, too close and braking too late. It's one thing driving on a slippy road when you're alone, but quite another when you're the smallest out there.. I really miss the adventure aspect of driving during the winter nights on the MCC trials, and whilst not trialling it, I drove the 4/4 out on a really cold, icy night with freezing fog, gritters by the bucketload, and yet loved it. But it was cleaned, afterwards.. Good memories..! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/01/03/fullsizeoutput_20ea.jpg) Look at the salt here.. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/01/03/fullsizeoutput_1443.jpg) Goosing it.. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/01/03/fullsizeoutput_1ab6.jpg)

I remember that Greedy Goose day Steve. Indeed it was. That was the day it was a good few inches deep in snow at home, so we chickened out and came in the Landy, only to find that 10 miles down the road there was barely any snow at all.
