I voted no, like DaveW I'm not a track-day sort of person I've done a couple in various cars and also a couple of track intruction sessions but, as with Dave W and Easter, it's not really for me, so I'm a 'no' vote as well G

It's probably safer to stretch your p&j on a track than on the Queens highway whether it be new money or old.

Not at all. I ain't 'new' money ( in fact any money is cool with me) and if TDs are what float your boat I'd rather see a car driven than not. My problem with them is that there is such an element of competition at times thatI don't actually get to learn anything about movng my fast- driving skills forward and that is their value as far as I'm concerned Cheers, G

A perfect weekend in the country, a day pigeon shooting followed by a TD

Dont quite see that one. In fact dont see it at all. The two I have done were the Lotus Owners jobbie at castle combe ( chock a block with old beardies in classic loti) and a local one at Llandow which was full of souped up Clios and young chavs in burberry baseball caps. If they serve a purpose at all, its to allow you to drive at the sort of speed that would have you jailed if caught on the open road. Nothing to do with money, new or old.

I admit to being a little mischievous and I am fortunate to live near a network of great driving roads

Trad Morgans brilliant on track and capable of giving a surprise to many more modern and powerful cars!
Track day organisers are key to a good day. These include GoldTrack and BookaTrack. They limit numbers on track and maintain high driving standards. You need decent tyres for a track day though.
Can recommend track days at:
Castle Combe Snetterton 300 Silverstone National and International Ty Croes Goodwood. Mallory Park
Best for beginners and a fantastic track Ty Croes. Very little to hit and lots of run off. It's worth putting in racing brake fluid so that you don't boil your brake fluid.
Alternatively can recommend Prescott Hillclimb school, though you don't get as much track time as at a track day.
...chock a block with old beardies in classic loti...
And, what's wrong with old beardies in classic motors (or should that be classic beardies in old motors...)??? Cheers,
