Hello All,
Can anyone help? I joined PlotaRoute to try to see my routes on Google Earth in detail and was asked to change the software that videos play with. YouTube videos now seem to have the background music far too loud to hear the commentary. I can't remember what I changed but wonder if it made a difference to the YouTube playback. Thanks for any hints.

Best Regards

Win7HP allows you to set a few things.

1. In the small tray bottom right is a sound icon. This is the general output level.
2. If you right click on this it often shows you the options menu for sound which will give you the ability to modify a specific application relative to the others. This is usually where the disconnect occurs.

Have a peek at this and see if you can find them.

Thanks Alistair.
I got most of those controls through Control Panel but found one which controls how sound is modified if the machine is used for telephoning. Changed this to "No Change" which seems to have done something. Thanks again, I'll get back if this doesn't work on other Youtube videos.

I couldn't modify specific applications and it doesn't seem to have worked. Any other thoughts? Thank you.

Could you have had the speakers plugged into the surround all along and the setting have changed set the speakers to 5.1 instead of stereo, meaning only the rear speakers are what you hearing now?

Thanks Chris. I only have two speakers and it is set to Stereo. I didn't change any speaker ports before noticing the change. Maybe YouTube quality has gone downhill!

It can be highly variable, try playing bbc iplayer and compare the output quality.
