Howard, I too am sorry if you felt this discussion went too far, but Malvern Arms is offered to be a virtual pub where you can pull up a chair in a relaxed environment with a friend and discuss anything. I view everybody here as friends. I think the question and discussion is appropriate. A person doesn’t have to read it or participate. We all come from different backgrounds and have opposing opinions. I certainly respect that. This thread has not elicited the more intense discussion as the Harry and Meghan thread has.

Warm regards.

I don't think Howard was offended, he was just aware that previous subjects involving politics, war, religion and other subjects have provoked strong reactions and so should end up behind the filter to stop the spiders reading them and indexing us as a "politically sensitive" site etc. Not a bad call in case it does turn heated. I am guessing the number of people searching for "tr__p" is quite high.

I do agree that the forum remains one of the most open and generally friendly I am aware of and love that.

I agree. We should stick with Morgans. However as a US'er I thought the comments on BREXIT at least gave Me some information of what is going on in the World. These polictal and other threads are plainly titled. It is easy to avoid them if desired.

Actually I think the opinions are reasonably balanced. I have no problem agreeing to disagree with another member and I think that by and large we do not descend into personal insults or trolling. If someone starts getting a little out of order they are soon pulled into line by other members.

For me it is an enrichment to experience your opinions and views from all the countries including the citizens concerned

Not at all offended though I think your quest is a little bit pointless - look at his approval ratings to judge what americans think of him. I am no fan of Trump though as a non american my opinons dont matter.

As well as TM, I haunt the sailing forums of YBW where even despite the best efforts of the mods, there has been a deterioration into personal abuse, bigotry and any number of "isms" with the discussions of brexit and trump/boris. Being mostly comfortably off educated middle class posters the tenor is anti Trump, anti Boris and overwhelmingly anti Brexit but its become difficult to avoid the politics even on the bits that are supposed to be "boats only". Its a slippy slope. And like the discussion of politics or religion at a dinner party, it doesnt always lead to happy results.

OK its a personal view but to me TM is a beacon of pleasantness and civility so I would hate for politics to creep in under the door.

Having witnessed the sad demise of the MSCCDG, and later eMog, it would indeed seem a great shame if yet another Morgan forum bit the dust as the result of macho behaviour or any other of our many human failings, though I think and hope that few of us will be novices relative to the wondrous webs ability to draw out our deficiencies, the hope is that good manners prevail.. thumbs
