As a very Senior Citizen (days from being 90) I take great pride in being the "Old Sage" who threw alleged experience know everything. Strange I must listen to the Grand Children to find out what is going on in this World. Hmmm. I must talk to one of them to get My "spell check" fixed. So are you all sure it is today? I would also like to congratulate... when the time comes. Button should tell us when the birthday comes.

Can I add my best wishes for you on your birthday when it comes along Bill, That you are still messing with Morgans and covering the miles you have done puts me to shame... I suspect you may be up to if not exceeding the mileage that the GoMoG webmaster covered in his travels in North America and Europe... I take my hat off to you guys, and of course the new breed of M3W adventurers who seem to have taken up the mantle.. (-:
Lightspeed, we have been through very similar processes as you have in the US folk voted for a personality, and promises in the hope of removing power from the old guard, much the same as they have done in other parts of Europe, and for very similar reasons.... Trump would seem to have dismantled the establishment. In the UK it seems Boris Johnstone`s main advisor seeks to cut the civil service to the bare minimum...Brexit has divided the country down the middle. and where that might end, nobody knows, though there were plenty of promises...
Thus it seems possible that personality culture and promises for change can gain results...? Thinking of the female porn star who sought election in Rome, I think she won, then of course there was Berlusconi who despite his record was voted in more than once (-: Bunga Bunga boy.. (-: I think that currently the UKRAINE has a premiere who initially played the part of being the premiere of that country on TV.... Hmm....!!! So there you go Lightspeed plenty of turmoil to contemplate if in the mood to do so... Me..? I`d rather just not bother. (-: I remember that “kiddy porn Star” who carried a Teddy Bear as her symbol of something. She did indeed get elected and none of the rest of the electorate would let her speak he first day in office. She had the idea that if she took her top down in parliament that would get them to shut up and let her speak, she did and the idea worked. My father was living in Italy at the time and I in the USA but we communicated regularly and that generated many laughs. We both were Economist readers and I recall it was discussed in that publication too. Whatever gets change with bullets flying is a good thing, regardless the morality or religious impact. Trump might not be what people want but the changes are having some positive impact on modifying thought on both political parties. The crazies are showing themselves on both sides.
2019 M3W Sold and is now in Las Vegas enjoying the showgirls :-)

The porn star was, still is, Ilona Staller. She still appears as a personality every so often on Italian TV. It is very easy to write her off as some strange anomaly however she was a long time political and peace activist and promoted some worth while policies. If anyone is curious the Wikipedia entry in English is not bad https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilona_StallerShe is sometimes critised for receiving a lucrative pension after only 5 years in office, but she is not the only one

Thanks for the heads up on some of the new breed of "celebrity" politicians guys. I think a stand up comic played his part in Greek elections in the recent past, which kinda supports my thinking that there seems to be a wide ranging variety of the populace who vote against the establishment in the hope that things will get better, when a different set of individuals can get their snouts in the trough....perhaps that is somewhat over cynical even for me..? Boab, the personalities as such do not interest me in the slightest, whereas the effect of their actions/policies over the long term for the general populace, or the world in general is that which can really matter..? Promoting divisions for gain tends to be the general objective for so many folk...and that so many folk vote for it.... pity ?

Chaps, I am well aware that many TMer's have quite strong opinions about this man however, I wonder if some of out American friends would comment on what it has actually been like living in the States under his term. Has he actually improved the lives of the people who voted for him or is he the "twit" that our popular press who make him out to be. I will add that as I haven't met the man nor do I live in the States I have no opinion on the subject. What an interesting thread Reg, I know you have very good reasons to ask these questions. I have been really interested in some of the responses and surprised at some of the feelings conveyed in equal measure. The strange parallel between our countries leaders with DisMay and then Doris in charge is that both countries economies and employment levels are looking good at the moment despite our feelings on them as so called leaders. N.B. Googlers need not reply
