What did it NOT do? Did the BB run to hot? Did it blow seals?

My 2012 April car originally had a similar arrangement ex factory.
There was a tube from the top of the bevel box which went to top near headrests then back down to exit under body on drivers side.
No breather present, just open tube.
I didn't like the idea of possibility of oil exiting to the road so added a small bottle to catch any output.
A surprising amount was to be found in the bottle (ca 100 ml)
A new bevel box was fitted later with the side breather.
I have contemplated revisiting the tube and breather as shown, maybe next time I do oil change

I ran it about 300 miles with an over full BB, Like Kankels, and nothing exited the tube.

Now I took the oil level back to the 300ml capacity since I noticed no difference in BB temps with the extra oil. If I notice a louder sound I might put more oil in it but I would hate to blow seals as some folks have said was going to happen.

I really wonder about the seal blowing issue if there is a vent in the system and no oil pumps, only gravity fed oil bath so how can it blow seals?

I do not believe it can blow seals with a functioning vent, just some excessive parasitic loss, which is fine, as it makes it quieter

When we are down there it makes you wonder why the drain plug is not on the bottom of the BB.
