The early steel wheels are awful and a constant headache. You're correct that the offset on VW wheels is incorrect. You can have the center removed and rewelded on the VW wheels to get good safe usable wheels. Dayton made bolt on wire wheels for a while. Minilite or Panasport are probably an option. I think the "steel" wheels on the anniversary edition where actually aluminium from Image.

The Anniversary wheels are definitely steel - I've read that the factory ran out pre- 2013, and Melvyn bought the last two....

If I explain my plan it may make more sense - I want a to band the wheels, making them an inch, possibly inch and half wider.

However, I don't want my Morgan off the road for too long - my idea is I send off the extra wheel and the spare off to get banded, and then when they return, stick them on the back, and then send the old back ones off and stick them on the front when they're done. It costs about £50 a wheel.

This is the look I'm going for -Morgan Wheels

If all else fails, getting some VW wheels and getting them cut and rewelded might be an option. I can fix any cracks in the original steel wheels myself.

Image do these: Image Wheels

But they'll be over £400 each - I'm looking to get all four done for £200 plus the cost of an extra wheel.

Yeah, those are the much earlier type - I think they're a 16" for a start. I was chatting with a bloke last year whilst on my search, who was thinking about getting some of those custom made.

Not sure if this helps, but 1980’s Morgans also had the option of Rostyle Wheels - are there any of those on the Bay of e that might do?

Allon White have just sold a 1983 car that had them fitted - 4 studs too - Here

Thanks - want to keep the 'old school' hubcap look as per the link.
