I have a '67 Plus 4 four seater and the rear axle is hitting the chassis on a decent size bump and I need your collective wisdom/confirmation on what I have found out. I'd also like to improve the ride in the back end.

I found out that the new 4 leaf springs will move the axle back, and will cause the bracket of the handbrake tree to foul or go into the fuel tank - Is this correct?

That the four leaf springs work best with the telescopic damper kit out, yes? Will the 4 leaf springs still work with the lever shocks okay? (It's a cost thing)

I found out that 6 leaf springs are no longer made or used by the factory so if I can find some, should I use them?

Is there anything I can have done to my original springs to improve the ride and get rid of the problem of the bump?

Any and all other ideas welcome

Pat have a look at that thread. Might solve your problem.

Great idea, but as I have a '67 I don't have that support bar going across the width of the chassis they are bolted on to.

Dan White of Suplex has developed some new 4 leaf asymmetric springs which are of very good (UK-made) quality and designed reduce axle tramp. I have put them on my 2014 Plus 4 (the one with the 250 bhp turbo engine) to help control spring wind-up (along with anti-tramp bars). Even before the engine change the original springs on this 2014 car were useless -- sagging on one side even with no-one in the driving seat and someone in the passenger seat. I have been told the batch I got were made in Sri Lanka! I'm not sure if that's true. Anyway, I've only done about 1k miles on the new springs but I'm very impressed so far. Hope this helps.

I’ve been corresponding with Dan today on this subject - I’m sure he won’t object to me sharing the following:

We at SSL helped BCC (British Classic Car Spares) put together their comprehensive range of leaf springs. We therefore allowed them to include our ASYMETRIC Morgan designs.
BCC carry stock of both OE and our asymmetric springs. They are £253.11+VAT per pair.

Thanks, but again are the springs the same for your 2014 car as my 1967 car? I somehow doubt it.... And I have no idea how to get in touch with Dan or who he is, as I live in Canada

Yes, however you can rectify that by using a pair of Mulfab centralisation blocks around the ‘wrong’ way to move the axle mounting pin forward. As a solution it will slightly lower the rear of the car but shorter, lowering front springs should re-balance the overall rake of the car.
The above worked for me on a 1972 car.
By observation, the suggested bump stops will stop the upper face of the diff nose hitting the transverse shock absorber mounting frame (for those with factory rear telescopic shock absorbers) they cannot stop the underside of the spring hitting the chassis.

You should glue a thick metal plate on the fuel tank of every Morgan to prevent the handbrake tree puncturing the tank in the event of a shunt.....

Taffmog... Having looked with alarm at the handbrake spike pointing straight at the fuel tank while I was stripping my car down that seems the most practical way off improving the situation. Cheers
