MOT due Monday and the fog light switch is illuminated but when depressed does not stay in and no rear fog light on .
Is there easy fix for limited electrical knowledge! I have a blank switch next to it that stays in when depressed ..is this a simple swop over option or any other ideas—- the stress to solve by Monday
Any help appreciated
Mark

I don’t know which year your plus 4 is but my fog light switch is not latching (doesn’t stay in). It is a momentary switch that latches a relay on the circuit board behind. The headlights have to be on for the relay to latch and the switch to work.

Have you tried the fuse? Number 5 I think under the dash passenger side, 7.5A.

The switch has a locking plate behind the pcb board on my 2006 car. If loose that might be the cause . It twists from memory.

I'm only asking the question in a different way but you have got the headlights switched on?

I did make that mistake myself.

Have you got a Multimeter? If not get one, they're indispensable for tracking wiring faults.

If you have, take the bulb out and see if you are getting power to the lamp holder. If you are then even though it looks ok it's probably the bulb.

If not, work backwards towards the switch until you find power. That will locate the break in the circuit.

On my car you can tease the switch out and test the switch connections but not sure on your model.

How is the lamp earthed? Check it.
