I like Andy’s suggestion of Centa failure, would explain Alan blaming the bevel box for loss of drive and the fast spinning starter motor.
Will be interesting to find out what has actually caused it.

Just listened to the latest PODCAST that confirms that the drive between the engine and flywheel was lost. i.e. The engine was reving but had lost connection to the drivetrain. The team are in contact with MMC and KrazyHorse and are having spare parts shipped out which they reckon will take 3-4 days. The local mechanics are very resourceful and have already started to talk about making up parts to effect the repair. The very best of luck to them!

I'm not on Twitter, but if anyone is, it might be helpful to point the support team [@transindiachal] in the direction of Phil Bleazey's engine removal procedure. Availiable for free via the Morgan Three Wheeler Club website. Click on 'About' then 'The 5 Speeder' - The document is 11th in the list. I think Phil does it slightly differently nowadays but the majority of the procedure is valid and very helpful.

I've passed on the link via Facebook and had a positive response so all you tweeters may stand down!

Gentlemen,
I hate to say what remains unsaid: a new car like this should not break down. I feel desperately sorry for the Trans India Challenge team (because they are doing a great thing for charity) but I am completely unsurprised that the M3W's reliability should prove trumps again.
We should be outraged that MMC lets this quality out on the road at this price....
As somebody else on this erstwhile forum has said before...no other car maker has such a forgiving clientele.
No this is not sour grapes: I loved my 2 M3Ws....but I love reliability more...and the essence of M3W is FUN (which I associate with stress-free driving and not "will it/ won't it" motoring).
We should all be giving Steve Morris a hard time about his product reliability whilst wishing all the very best to the Trans India Challenge team.

I agree with all the above. My first M3W (a 2013) was diabolically unreliable so we sold it after 18 months when we moved abroad. My second one (a 2017) has proved much more reliable after its first two trips back from the dealer when brand new, both of which ended in it having to go back to the dealer on a flatbed. Since then, it has been pretty good (fuel pump and new factory Stage 1 pipes failures being the exceptions).

I suggest we wait and see what the actual issue is before we let our emotions run wild. Wish them the best of luck and a speedy resolution.

The team have confirmed that the centa has failed. The car is now at a Harley Davidson dealer in Calcutta and the parts needed to fix it are on the way. A steep learning curve for the local mechanics, but hopefully they will be back on the road soon.
