Mega thread drift warning.....

If you are a believer in the use of bamboo, as I am, then buy your paper towels and toilet paper from these people....

Green Delight

Bamboo and sugar cane waste.

The company name could only be Australian....!!

Doesn't fuel go off? It certainly does in my lawn mower if I don't use it for a couple of months. I would think you needed to use a tank every couple of months at least just to make sure the petrol is not too old.

Yes, we get our stuff from Who Gives a Crap too. You can also get bamboo clothing see https://bambooclothing.co.uk/mens-bamboo-clothing/

as well as bamboo another brilliant plant source is hemp. I have a fair few hemp shirts, and it's also a great source of plastic-type materials.

5mls of stabiliser per 5 litres of fuel will stop it going off, I use Valvemaster Plus but other types are available.

That's very interesting. I am quite keen on the idea of getting a used i3 in a couple of years. Are yours the Rex version? Do you mind if I ask what range does that give in real world use? And is it feasible to keep topping up the petrol tank on a long journey to keep using the generator in preserve charge mode, or is it just a one-time use?

Tim, I see jrt has replied too, but here goes...

Mine's also the 94Ah REx, official NEDC test gave 142.9 miles, I think WLTP was slightly better, in the real world best I get is 127.4 & I live in a very hilly area & like to make full use of potential 'acceleration' wink
Previous one was the 60Ah & I've done a few trips from Yorkshire to London & have come north purely on the REx with no problem
I bung it on charge when I get home each evening, easy peasy, you can even condition it via your phone in the morning so it's defrosted before you set off
I monitor leccy use & cost, plus the occasional hydrocarbon top-up and last year it did the equivalent of 136.9mpg
The BMW app to get & even send data to/from the car is clever too, if I pop out to a meeting & send the destination from the app to the car it will warn me if the range falls short & offer a route via charge points

Thanks guys, really interesting. I can definitely see an i3 on the shortlist in a year or two. It's interesting that BMW have now dropped the REx version, apparently people were finding the generator unnecessary in real-world use.

It would be very interesting to hear asbohn's views and experiences as I seem to recall he was a very early adopter of the "PP3" driven vans on his fleet.

Cost of an EV vehicle......?

Even a Nissan Leaf - is very expensive - would you want all your "hard earnt"...in something that is that drab?
