Excellent series Culminator.
Very wise to go back to a more standard V8. I have converted 3 race engines back to road but none were as wild as HotMog.
My first was an Elva engine which was a nightmare as it had 10 mm plugs which would last about 30 miles. Good for a race but not far down the road.
The Cosworth crossflow had a big valve head so torque was a real problem.
The Vulcan crossflow engine had high compression, high revs and high sump pressure so smoke signals through the exhaust.
All overcome but much trial and error and engine in and out.

Thanks Titus, sounds like you've been through it too!

Another productive weekend plus a few evenings and a big obstacle has been overcome. At last, the hand brake is back on and in its original location. No room for a support bracket under the tail of the gearbox, so I made one to fit snugly over the top, It's a bit over engineered but that lever isn't going to wobble!

The pro-shaft has been altered to fit the new T5 cosworth gearbox and thankfully its a perfect fit. The gearbox cover has also been fettled so it fits back in its original location. One thing I hadn't taken into consideration was that because the floors are not as thick as the standard marine ply, the gearbox cover was sitting too low. So it now sits on a 12mm softwood base to bring it back to its standard height. Lots of fiddling around but I'm please with the end result.

Had a bit of spare time recently so cracked on with the next jobs that were on the list.

To do things properly takes an awful lot of time, particularly when it comes to lining things up and cutting bits to shape. Anyway, the great news is that the prop shaft tunnel is now finished and the nearside front wing is aligned and bolted back on. In "Race car" guise, the front wings had their own unique support posts, so I've replaced those with standard wing brackets but as each car is unique, the bracket had to be fettled into shape for a perfect fit. Not difficult but very time consuming!

I've also bolted the nearside silencer back on but might remove that to get it replaced as its a bit "used".

Very happy with the front wing!

Thank you Steve. Not having a deadline and only working on the car when you really want to seems to help with a long term project. Here's that HD in its full glory ;-)

The Harley is lovely..!

Nice simple lines and definitely no skulls or naked lady's.. I could never get on with the larger front wheel, much preferred the small and fat variety but it spoilt the lines. Nice handlebar, too.

Makes me start looking now..!! It's an illness, I tell you..

thumbs
