Whats the rear gearbox mount mod you are recommending Chris?
Not heard of this one. Just a standard gearbox mount Nippy. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/01/17/Screen-Shot-2020-01-17-at-19.33.02.png) They have been known to start de-laminating so probably worth replacing as a precaution. Any hints and tips on replacing this? I cant see how to easily get at the bolt that goes through the central hole without removing the gearbox which covers the top of the bolt! I am hoping there is a simple way to do this - any thoughts much appreciated.

Are you looking from under the car? You can see an allen head cap screw dead center under the mount.

I forgot I still had the front end part of the NVH kit installed! This was blocking access to the central and outer gearbox mount bolts. Soon removed with a bit of spannering. this is it partially removedDifferent angleAll gone and bolt head now visibleSo the upshot seems to be if you have NVH installed, and you want to work on the rear gearbox mount, you will need to remove it ( temporarily or permanently). Ironically the rubber on my old mount was in good condition and still attached to the mount bracket, but having got this far I changed it anyway for a new one.

Nippymog I'm not sure what I'm looking at but in IMG0816 the casting top centre looks to be cracked.

I have heard a lot of reference to it but not found photos of it or an exploded view of its location.

NVH = Noise Vibration Harshness 2014 cars onwards have this fitted as standard in an attempt to reduce bevel box noise. Early cars had the bevel box mounted directly to the chassis the NVH kit is basically a subframe to which the bevel box is fitted and then mounted to the chassis via metalastic bushes, items 20,21 &23 below. Nippymog I'm not sure what I'm looking at but in IMG0816 the casting top centre looks to be cracked. Pretty sure what you are seeing is casting flash, not cracks. Those threaded holes which are visible in the alloy gearbox case are not used in the M3W install and should have not load on them, and therefore no real possibility of cracking.
